Re: Purchasing Mountain Bike

Souix, Stop by Vrisas Book Store on 15 Ave. Talk to Colin, tell him Tom from Xelapages told you to stop by. Colin is a bike nut (in a good way) he can possibly sell you a nice used bike, build you one from parts that he has or point you to a shop that has what you need. Also, please stop by Xelapage...

Re: Ride Share - Vehicle Renewal after 90 days

Thank you for the great write up on getting your car Visa renewed in Guate. This will certainly help others in the future. If you end up doing it again please come back and let us know if they allow a 2nd renewal in Guate or the border.

Gracias,

Re: Daylight Savings Time

Guatemala does not participate in Daylight savings. So we do not change our clocks at all.

Tapachula and Guatemala are now on the same time.

Guatemala is currenlty March 9, 2015 on US Mountain Time.

Re: Where to look for apartments in Xela

Check out:

http://olx.com.gt

It is a craigslist type site covering Guatemala. Many other places you will see are unfurnished but you can find semi and fully furnished places at times. Also as you explore Xela keep your eye on bulliten boards for signs and flyers.

Good luck

Re: Ride Share & Border Runs

Hi, Thanks for posting your offer for a ride share. One thing I noticed..."in March I have to leave Guatemala to renew my personal visa and my van permit..." I am not sure you are aware of this but a vehicle can not renew like a person. Your vehicles must stay OUT of Guatemala for 90 days before it ...

Re: U.S. T-Mobile cell phone use in Xela?

Yes, you can buy a SIM for your unlocked iphone that will give you data in Guatemala. The SIM is approx Q25 ~ $3.00 and 1gb of data for Q100 ~ $13.00 valid for 15 days. You can always buy more data as needed. Prices I have quoted are for Claro. My son just came home from college and we bought him th...
