Cojolyá is a non-profit association of Mayan Women Weavers from the Lake Atitlan village of Santiago. For over 25 years Cojolyá has been providing sustainable, fair-trade work for some 80 women who weave using the traditional back-strap loom. It was founded by American, Candis Krummel, and Tz’utujil Maya, Antonio Ramirez Sosof, with a mission to help preserve and encourage this centuries-old Mayan tradition and provide work for local women.
Cojolya produces quality designer accessories that are inspired by nature and art, combining them into spectacular and unique collections of bags, scarves, shawls, hats, throws etc.
Cojolya has a Museum and Shop in Santiago Atitlan, and offers weaving tours to visit our weavers’ in their homes for demonstrations and weaving classes.
Please email your cv with a covering letter to Francesca Wade, Administrator: firstname.lastname@example.org.
