Looking for someone to travel to the beautiful Comunidad La Florida (fincalaflorida.org), about a 2.5 hour commute west of Xela, just for a week or so to talk to the Junta Directiva (representative governing body) and see if they're interested in free Sustainable Agriculture workshops in March or April.
The work would involve spending some informal days in the community (where they have an ecotourism project- place to stay, meals with families) and talking to people, then communicating with the Permaculture teacher in Mexico to organize the workshops. For this you would need to have a pretty good handle on Spanish as no one in La Florida speaks English.
More information is available by emailing me: firstname.lastname@example.org
I think this would be a fun and rewarding experience for someone interested in learning more about Collectives, the sustainable agriculture movement, and rural living in Guatemala.
General discussion about volunteer opportunities in Guatemala with a focus on Xela.
